Greater Manchester Country Market is a new group who are working to establish a Country market for Greater Manchester.
Country Markets Ltd is a membership-based co-operative social enterprise operating throughout England, Wales and the Channel Islands. There are currently sixty-five regional Market Societies, with 12,000 producers across the country.
To get started, we have joined South Yorkshire regional market society, so that we can learn the ropes and learn from their considerable experience. Over time we hope to establish a new regional market society for Greater Manchester.
Initially we hope to establish a single Market, as we get ourselves organised, but we hope that over the coming years that there will be Country Markets operating all over Greater Manchester.

South Yorkshire Country Markets were sad to hear that Greater Manchester felt unable to proceed under the Country Markets banner and are looking at other ways of advancing their ideas of making local produce available. We fully understand the decision and wish everyone well. However, if any Producer in the Manchester area wishes either to try out selling through Country Markets you are still welcome to join any of the existing South Yorkshire Country Markets (full details on our website). If anyone wishes to explore how a Country Market might be set up in the Greater Manchester area we would still be willing to offer assistance.
